We’ve been working on a private internal tool called Imgero, and in order for us to create an AI image tool, we needed to research the market and understand what the top AI image generators are. For that, here is the absolute, easy guide list to our favorites.
Our Researched Top AI Image Generators
Midjourney
Midjourney is a private company. They don’t have an API for the outside world. They release amazing images with very high quality and ultra-realistic images. So if you’re looking for a tool that you are okay with paying for and that results in ultra-realistic images, we highly advise that you would use Midjourney. There is absolutely no industry standard, or this is kind of the benchmark of the industry these days.
Ideogram
That being said, it’s highly and closely competing with another company called Ideogram that raised around $96 million. Now Ideogram is based in Canada and they release also ultra-realistic images close to Midjourney, so it’s just a matter of pricing and better sales.
Because, let’s be honest, most users are looking for something. They’re looking for an image of a person on a laptop or on a phone, and both those companies, matter of fact, the majority of AI image generators could be able to do that. So it’s a game of pricing and ease of use when it comes to the UI.
Stability
Our third tool is Stability. Stability has a little bit of an edge compared to our next tool that is gonna be mentioned. The fact that it releases ultra-realistic images as well, it was also one of the first AI image generator tools out there and it has an aspect of art that doesn’t exist in a lot of those tools.
Finally, I would consider one of the cheapest tools out there. So my recommendation, if you’re looking for something affordable and that would get you most of the things that you want, consider Stability.
DALLE-E
Up next, we would put DALL-E 3, which is the image generator released by OpenAI, and the reason why we put it there is because it’s a little bit restrained due to its due to the company being famous. Now, when we write, for example, “create an image of Mark Zuckerberg flying on a ship,” we get a picture of someone who does not look like Mark Zuckerberg whatsoever.
Yet in the first in the top three tools that we mentioned, we would get marks someone at least resembling Mark Zuckerberg in this sense. I would think that it has to do with the fact that they are a large company and that they’re being sued by everyone because they’re pioneers in the industry and it’s not easy to do what they do. So for that we put them in this position.
Adobe Firefly
Finally, I would say Adobe Express or Adobe Firefly, they are both the same tool, and they are used to create images that are basic, but still AI images. So if you’re looking to draw a picture to put on your website, this could work.
If you’re looking for a picture that could be put on an animation or a cartoon this also would be good, but if you’re looking for ultra-realistic images, I would skip this tool.
This is our list after we assessed each and every tool in terms of performance. Some of them are cheaper than the others, some of them are faster than the others, but overall it’s like tasting different chocolate cakes from different manufacturers.
They’re all coming from the same concept. So you’ll have to assess this based on the pricing of the product as it differs based in geographical regions and accordingly make a decision on your needs as well, because if you’re looking to create an image that would win an art competition, for instance, Midjourney did that before, not that you should do that, but they create such ultra-realistic images.
If you’re looking for something cheap and fast, we recommend Stability. It depends on your needs at the end of the day and what you’re willing to create with those images.
Remember, all of those tools are good right now and they’re gonna keep on evolving because they’re AI tools to become even better in the upcoming future.
